Orphan Socks
These are all the socks in Molly’s room that don’t have a pair… probably because Ben ate the other one and it’s out in the yard somewhere. (I’m not joking!)

My New Blog: Growingourgreenbeans.com
I’ve been working on a new blog called Growing Our Green Beans. I created it as an outlet to write on more topical environmental issues, without the fun but somewhat distracting kiddie quotes and pictures that I like to post here. I’m interested in pursuing freelance writing opportunities, and aim for the Greenbeans site to be part practice and part portfolio for future endeavors.
I’m going to continue to post here, but my energy will be mostly over at the other site for awhile, especially as it gets going. So check it out and spread the word if you know anyone interested in green living!!

Art Gallery Event
A brave local art gallery hosted a Saturday morning of free art activities for kids. It was the coolest event ever, with collage materials for a huge cardboard hippo they created, a mural covering almost an entire wall to paint on, and more. Tucker, my budding artist, could have stayed there all day. Molly preferred the juice boxes and the power she felt wielding a paint brush.

Molly Goes Shopping
I was looking for some underwear in Target today and Molly saw some polka dotted undies. She loves polka dots and grabbed two pairs as we walked by. She was the best shopper ever today, totally thrilled to put the underwear on and off her neck like a favorite necklace. I told her we weren’t going to buy them when we arrived at the checkout and asked her to hand them to the cashier so she could keep them safe, and get this: Molly did it. She handed over her precious polka dotted undies promptly without even a fuss. The cashier and I were both shocked.

Sick Molly
The kids and I visited my mom this week in Florida. Austin thought it would be a rough trip because Molly’s so active, the flights seemed like a nightmare waiting to happen. Actually, the flights went okay—not the highlight of our lives, but not horrible.
The horrible part came once we got there. As I walked in the door on Sunday night with Molly in my arms, she threw up everywhere and it was only downhill from there culminating in a 24 hour hospital stay on Tuesday and Wednesday for pneumonia and RSV. The biggest problem was that my sweet little stubborn girl decided she was too sick to drink. The ER was a less-than-amazing experience, and it was horrible watching them try four times to get an IV into her… next time I’ll try pinning her down at home and squirting water into her mouth with a medicine dropper/syringe.
Thankfully she’s doing better now than earlier this week, but still pretty tired and sick overall.
In the ambulance getting transferred from the ER to a hospital that has a pediatric unit.
This is what Molly thinks of hospitals…
And here she was yesterday, working on catching up on her sleep.
